John Vincent Hurley  (May 9,1930-December 25, 2018)

John died at age 88, in Lakeworth, FL, after a short illness.  John served in the U.S. Army and was wounded in combat in the Korean War.

After the war here returned home and joined the NYPD where he was a first grade detective. He spent 25 years with the NYPD before retiring in 1976, but continued to work as an investigator for New York State until 1993. John was a proud founding member of the Blauvelt Knights of Columbus as well as other community organizations.

Beatrice Hurley (August 30,1932-January 2, 2022)

Beatrice (Beatty) died at age 89, in Meredith, NH of natural causes.  Beatrice graduated with a secretary degree and was married shortly after. She raised her children in Blauvelt where she had many close friends and relatives.
She worked for Lederle Labs and also as a secretary for the Town of Orangetown. Her life’s joy was raising her children and spending time with her grandchildren.
John and Beatrice (nèe Granahan) married in 1951.  They were married 67 years and had six children.  They raised their family, in Blauvelt, NY and were devoted Catholics and were parishioner at St Catharine's Church in Blauvelt.
In 1993, they retired to Center Harbor, NH and thereafter became snowbirds, spending winters in Lakeworth, FL.
John and Beatrice were predeceased by their daughter Kathleen.  They are survived by their daughter Bernadette Squittieri (Robert), son Johnny wife Anna, son Kevin wife Oksana, son James wife Kathleen, son William wife Rhonda.  They have 11 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Their life was a long term love affair and even in death their wish was to be buried together. They have left a void and are sorely missed by family and friends.
Calling Hours will be held Friday, January 14th from 4-8pm at the Moritz Funeral Home in Tappan. A Memorial Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, January 15th, 10am at St Catharine’s Church Blauvelt, NY. They will be buried together at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 10 W. Stevens Ave., Hawthorne, NY.
