Jacob George Smith Jr., aka "Jack,” of Palisades, NY, loving husband, father of six, and grandfather of six, passed away at the age of 84, on Saturday, March 13, 2021.
Jack was born in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn, on January 1st, 1937.  His parents, Jacob George Smith, Sr. and Josephine Cavaluzzi had six children: Elsie Smith Maruo, Dianna Smith Tesoriero, Frank Smith, Laura Smith Loggia and Gary Smith, of which Jack was the third child.
He is survived by his loving wife, Roberta Christian Smith, his sons Paul Smith, Bruce Smith, and James Smith; and his daughters, Cheryl (Toni) Smith, Dawn Smith-McNelis and Nicole Smith.  He is also survived by his six grandchildren: Aydriana Torres, Matthew Smith, Dylan Smith, Zachary McNelis, Christine Smith and Ainsley Smith; and two great grandchildren Roman Torres and Lennox Torres.
Jack proudly served in the Navy on the USS Randolph before starting his family and pursuing his love of music. He loved to play the drums and passed his gift on to his kids.  His drumming took him to Las Vegas with Harvey K and the Larks and to the White House with the Peter Duchin Orchestra for President Lyndon B. Johnson’s daughter's wedding; as well as many different venues throughout the country, well into his 60's.  Over the years, he spent his time attending drumming events, studying drum videos and perfecting his craft with his sons. In between, he worked as a maintenance mechanic at Lederle Labs, in Pearl River, NY, where he retired at the age of 62, but then went on to work at Bio Reference Laboratories in Saddle Brook, NJ, as a courier from age 67 to 82.
Jack enjoyed spending time and laughing with family.  There are many vacations, family gatherings, boxing events and metal detecting trips that have left everlasting memories in his family's hearts.
