Miano, Cateno Mario

Tappan, NY - Tappan Location

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved Cateno; a loving husband, father, grandfather and uncle, who died peacefully with his wife and children at his side. He is survived by his wife Concetta of 68 years, and his children and their spouses Assunto and Nadine Miano, Santina and Evangelos Stamou, Giuseppina and Joe Milio, Domenica and Joe Kensicki, Alfio and Maria Miano, Domenico and Kimberley Miano and Maria and Mike Santos. He is also survived by his 13 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents Domenica and Salvatore Miano as well as his brother Paolo Miano. He emigrated to America from Roccafiorita, Sicily in 1969 with his wife and seven children, and they began a new journey of raising his family in Yonkers, NY for 17 years, then in Tappan, NY for 35 years. He was the pillar of his loving family, a gentle and kind soul who loved his “Pasta Sundays” with all of his family around him. He was “Nonno” to all of his grandchildren and great grandchildren who he loved dearly. A gentle giant, a patriarch who sacrificed everything to better the lives of his family. We will miss him each day that passes, but we will always cherish the memories and traditions that he has instilled in our lives forever. He will be dearly missed and we wish him to rest in peace forever! Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, Oct. 22nd, 11am at the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church and burial at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, both in Yonkers. Visiting hours will be Thursday, Oct. 21st, 2-9pm at the Moritz Funeral Home in Tappan, NY.
